Pink Silk Bronze Trimmed Bodice
This pink silk bodice is not especially ornate, but the blend of subtlety from the original garment in combination with the wear and tear is a combination that I find truly lovely.
From the name on the added cotton seam-tape to the small blue ink stain on the panel near the hook and eye closure, the visual mix of the original garment and costume additions and repair is quite elegant. Metallic bronze braid and a carnation pink tulle tucked into the top seam of the bodice are the counterparts to the (more recently) fortified boning and cotton duck lining added to extend the life of the bodice — all topped off with a relaxed bow tied by the last person who handled the garment.
