Exeter Boxing Gloves

The combination of the colors of the leather and the laces along with the patina of the leather makes for a gorgeous and satisfying mix. I

wanted to use a background of velvet and burlap, as one is elegant and the other more common.

My appreciation for the two together likely stems from the work that I did with vintage ballet pieces where it was typical to find a velvet or silk garment lined in unbleached cotton or linen.

The burlap takes the coarseness one step further in the texture and the edge that I frayed. The velvet that the gloves rest on is deeply saturated, and brings out the deeper tones in the orange of the leather gloves.
