Burlap Skirt Metallic Embroidery

This skirt is constructed of a metallic thread linen that has since been lined with cotton or linen, to hold it together as the original layer frayed. The pink panel is a silk satin, and heavily embroidered with silver thread that holds silver foil pieces to create a reflective pattern that looks like mirrors. The traditional lace pattern rendered in silver thread and flattened wire is a beautiful juxtaposition to the humble undyed linen. The red and blue lines near the waistband are so beautiful because they are graphically strong but deteriorating.
